Mario, Before for Muscle Up Mario, After for Muscle Up
The Secret is in the Science
There’s lots of “Bro Science” out there on how to put mass on, and most of it isn’t worth listening to. Have you ever noticed that most of the people sharing their “wisdom” on how to gain mass in the gym really don’t have much on their own frames? Me too .
Therefore, it’s important to follow those who know what they’re doing. When I first started trying to put mass on, I did a lot of my own research, and some of it was good! I went from about 170 lbs to 182 trying out different routines and meal plans. That was pretty good. Then, one day, I made a comment to Chris Wilson, my then-girlfriend’s trainer, that I believed I had hit my genetic limit re: how much muscle I could put on my frame.
Then he invited me to hire him as my trainer for 3 months. He told me he’d instruct me in eating and lifting, and that I’d be doing things radically differently than I had ever done before. I took him up on his offer. In 2 ½ months I had added 15 lbs of mass to my frame, and my bodyfat had remained essentially the same, between 10% and 11%.
I was shocked. So wer e those who watched me. Many thought I was on steroids, but I have never touched them.
Why Do You Want Muscle?
Well, maybe you don’t think you do. Many women tell me they’re afraid of getting big and bulky. I can tell you from years of experience that it’s highly unlikely you ever will. You will put 3, 4, maybe 5 or 6 lbs of mass on, sure. And you know what? You’ll look great!
Your butt, shoulders, arms, everything you want to look good in a strapless dress, well it all will! And you’ll get this by lifting like a bodybuilder. True story. As a matter of fact, that’s really the only way to reach your “tone” potential.
Women need to lift just like men. The myth of “low weights for lots of reps = toned” is just that: a myth. Don’t believe the hype! Ladies, if you want to look toned, you want muscle mass! And, if you want to get toned, I can help.
And men, well, do I really even need to say it? “Curls for the girls,” “Big guns!” All that good stuff. Many of us want that 6-packed-buff-look. If you want that, I can help. But – and this is a spoiler alert – Curls aren’t the secret. I will show you a way of working out that you’ve probably never even considered before. And it is awesome for health, optimal muscle mass, and longevity. It’s easy on the joints and tissues, while getting you the results you want.
Applied Scientific Principles with Proper Periodization
For a routine to work, it needs to be properly “periodized.” That means, in simple terms, we change it up about once per month in order to target different “mini-goals”, all designed to help you reach your overall goals. Sometimes we focus on strength. Sometimes size. Sometimes a combination of both, and sometimes more endurance/cardio.
Your program is custom designed for you, to help you reach your individualized targets. We make sure that we do a complete goal-assessment up front, in order to create for you the routine that best suits your needs.
And everything we do, when we have you lift, is based on science. How much you’re lifting. How many repetitions you’re doing. Your rest periods. All of it is science-based to get you where you want to be as quickly as possible.
We don’t guess. We apply scientific principles and do regular assessments to see that you’re achieving what you told us you wanted to achieve. The axiom is true: “If you aren’t assessing, then you’re just guessing.” We don’t play around with your results. We dial them in, then give you the tools you need to nail them.
