There’s lots of “Bro Science” out there on how to put mass on, and most of it isn’t worth listening to.  Have you ever noticed that most of the people sharing their “wisdom” on how to gain mass in the gym really don’t have much on their own frames?  Me too .

Therefore, it’s important to follow those who know what they’re doing.  When I first started trying to put mass on, I did a lot of my own research, and some of it was good!  I went from about 170 lbs to 182 trying out different routines and meal plans.  That was pretty good.  Then, one day, I made a comment to Chris Wilson, my then-girlfriend’s trainer, that I believed I had hit my genetic limit re: how much muscle I could put on my frame.

He laughed.

Then he invited me to hire him as my trainer for 3 months.  He told me he’d instruct me in eating and lifting, and that I’d be doing things radically differently than I had ever done before.  I took him up on his offer.  In 2 ½ months I had added 15 lbs of mass to my frame, and my bodyfat had remained essentially the same, between 10% and 11%.

I was shocked.  So wer e those who watched me.  Many thought I was on steroids, but I have never touched them.
